Falcon Ridge Festival Update
August 3rd, 4th, 5th 2018
Hello FRFFers,
We are so thankful for this supportive community willing to commit to the fest before knowing a single thing about the lineup which by the way is now compete and up at: http://falconridgefolk.com/
Earlybird tix sales ended last week and we had a wonderful uptick on sales during that period too. Up 20% over 2017. Just finished mailing them all out YESTERDAY! Not to worry if you plan to buy later or even at the gate. We expect to have ALL TIX TYPES including CAMPING at the gate. The advance price deadline is July 10. All tix prices & ordering info up at: http://falconridgefolk.com/
Three terrific June events we want to share, after all Falcon Ridge is still 70 DAYS AWAY, and we plan to attend these as well. Coming up on Thurs June 7 at Symphony Space in NYC is the incomparable DEL McCOURY BAND. For over 50 years, yup, I said FIFTY, Del has defined bluegrass, attracting fans of folk, country, blues, and old-time music by the thousands. If you are a BG fan and have never seen Del, or even if you have, DO IT NOW is our advice. Info at www.symphonyspace.org/events/
Then there is the American Roots Music Festival on Sat June 23 at Caramoor in Katonah NY, just off I-684. A family friendly, intimate fest, just one day & takes place throughout Caramoor’s 90 acres of grassy lawns, gardens & woodlands. Amy Mann, Ryanhood, Front County, Anthony da Costa, Valerie June & more. Amazing lineup! A contingent of FRFF staff and friends heading there too.
Another long-time fave is OLD SONGS, a family-friendly 3 day camping fest held at the Altamont Fairgrounds near Albany, June 22-24, chock full of Traditional, Celtic & World music & dance. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, wonderful vendors, CONTRA dancing, lots of daytime interactive workshops. Artists include Joe Jencks, Happy Traum & Jim Kweskin, Christine Lavin, Bob Franke, Gaslight Tinkers with Choc’late, John Roberts, Anne Hills, lots more. We expect to see many FRFFers there, plan to be there all day on Friday.
It’s opening day today at the 3 week long Kerrville Folk Festival too! Wishing them the best the water gods and goddesses can offer.
That’s it for now, feel free to Email me anytime at FalcRidge@aol.com
You can sign up or UNSIGN UP for this e-newsletter anytime as well by going to http://ten.pairlist.net/
We look forward to seeing each of you on the hill this summer! 70 days & COUNTING!
Thanks, Anne

The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival takes its 30th flight. Homegrown from a hillside musical gathering, this event has become an annual pilgrimage for many. Boasting a pre-fest Tastings, Farm Market & Lounge Stage, campers and day-trippers converge at this yearly Brigadoon-like setting on Dodds Farm in beautiful Hillsdale, NY.
Brimming with main stage concerts, workshops, hours of dancing, Activities 4 Kids, a charming Family Stage, international food and crafts, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The Dance Tent wakes to early morning yoga and grooves until 2AM Friday & Saturday. The fest is accessible and ASL-interpreted.
Palate pleasers include Caribbean curries, Thai noodles, hand roasted coffees, Mexican, Italian, middle-eastern & vegetarian specialties. Organic juices & good ole American comfort food can also be had. Over 50 vendors ply their wares, much of it handmade or fair trade, emphasis on eco-friendly.
Revered pre-Dylan Folk icon Tom Paxton, fest MVPs the Slambovian Circus of Dreams and Songstress Dar Williams are featured along with a cast of fest faves from the past 29 years. Tempest, Gaslight Tinkers, Great Bear, The Nields, Vance Gilbert, Laura Love, Dan Navarro, The Kennedys & John Gorka are among the returning alums. Music runs the gamut from Celtic to Cajun to Blues, Bluegrass, Roots & more with the fest’s trademark singer/songwriters and Contra Dance bands front and center.
Single day, 3 day & camping tickets are available. Senior, student & military discounts are offered at the gate. Kids 12 & under admitted free. Pre-fest Tastings courtesy of Copake Hillsdale Farmers Market brings local wineries, distilleries, breweries & food producers together for a 5-hour treat feast. Intimate performances at the Lounge Stage begin at 5PM. Thursday Pre-Fest is included with all 3-day tickets or may be purchased separately.
The fest takes off Friday August 3 with its critically acclaimed Grassy Hill Emerging Artist Showcase now in its 27th year. More info & tickets at FalconRidgeFolk.com or 860 364-0366.
