REMINDER – Planning to buy a 3 day ticket OR to VOLUNTEER this year, advance price deadline on tickets is July 10, just a few days away. Go to http://falconridgefolk.com/tickets/ for more info and ordering.

Still want to volunteer – Barbara, our Vol Coordinator says we still have open positions. Some crews have closed, but a few still need people. Go to www.falconridgevolunteers.com, there is a sign-up form, a list of crews with openings & what each crew does.

Volunteering is certainly NOT for everyone. All festivals need their paying attendee support for sure. That support pays for the gas in the tank so to speak but the volunteers ARE the gas in the tank that make it go. They are the life blood as well as the beating heart of any fest like FRFF. Any of our volunteers will tell you this inner circle part of the community is a very special place to be, it does mean several hrs work and likely missing some dancing, singing listening so check it out first. And for those of you still planning to sign up, please do it now. It makes it so much easier if we have a full crew earlier rather than later.

That’s it for now, feel free to Email me anytime at FalcRidge@aol.com

You can sign up or UNSIGN UP for this e-newsletter anytime as well by going to http://ten.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/announcements

We look forward to seeing you on the hill this summer! 32 days to GATES OPEN! Thanks, Anne

7/31, 8/1 & 2: The 27th Falcon Ridge Folk Festival takes flight

Falcon Ridge Folk FestivalMUSIC, DANCE, CRAFTS, FOOD

27th Annual Falcon Ridge Folk Festival

July 31-Aug 2

The 27th Falcon Ridge Folk Festival takes wing July 31 – Aug 2. Homegrown from a humble hillside gathering, it has become a Folk Music & Dance Mecca. Campers and day-trippers alike converge at its yearly Brigadoon-like setting at the Dodds Farm in Hillsdale, NY.

The fest boasts concerts and workshops, hours of dancing on their 7000 square foot floor, a delightful Family Stage, lively Activities 4 Kids tent, an international food court and an array of vendors. Something for everyone, be it foodie expo, craft fair, dancing the night away, family fun or round robin song swaps. The dance tent starts with wakeup yoga and grooves until 2AM Friday and Saturday. The fest is accessible and ASL-interpreted.

Palate pleasers aplenty line the midway from Caribbean curries to Thai noodles to hand roasted coffees to Persian, Bavarian, Moroccan, Mexican, Cajun & Italian cuisines. Lest we forget, probiotic pickles, organic juices and good ole American comfort food. Over 50 vendors present their wares much of it handmade or fair trade, emphasis on eco-friendly.

Artists include multiple Grammy recipient & quintessential art songstress, Judy Collins, fest MVPs the Slambovian Circus of Dreams, folk fusionists the Duhks & international mime artist Hoopoe. Philadelphia folk-rockers June Rich stop by on their 20th anniversary reunion tour. Pete’s Posse, Garnet Rogers, Roosevelt Dime, Pesky J. Nixon, Susan Werner, Wild Asparagus, Jesse Lege & Bayou Brew & many others appear over the weekend.

Music runs the gamut from Celtic to Cajun to Americana to Blues, Bluegrass, Roots, World & Swing with the fest’s trademark singer/songwriters and Contra Dance bands at the center. Artists from Texas, Louisiana, Chicago, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nashville, Winnipeg, Ontario, Wales and closer to home are featured.

Single day, 3 day and camping tickets are available. Ages 12 & under admitted free. Discounts for seniors, college students and teens too! A pre-fest Tastings day Thursday July 30 features local goodies galore courtesy of the Copake Hillsdale Farmers Market followed by THE LOUNGE STAGE hosted by Tribal Mischief Productions.

The fest proper kicks off at noon Friday July 31 with its critically acclaimed Emerging Artist Showcase. For info & tickets, go to FalconRidgeFolk.com or call 860 364-0366.
