Dino Govoni, one of the most versatile saxophonists in modern jazz, brings a wealth of experience and a broad musical range to the stage. Having studied under the legendary Jerry Bergonzi and George Garzone, Govoni’s remarkable career spans performances and recordings with jazz luminaries like Grover Washington Jr., Randy Brecker, Eddie Gomez, Billy Hart, and the Boston Pops, to name just a few. As a Berklee College of Music faculty member and clinician, Dino is a highly regarded educator. His recorded works, including Breakin’ Out, In the Library, and Chance Meeting, continue to captivate jazz enthusiasts.
John Allmark:
Originally from the UK, John Allmark is a distinguished trumpet player, arranger, and bandleader with nearly four decades of experience. Known primarily for leading the John Allmark Jazz Orchestra for over 30 years, he has performed with jazz icons such as Nick Brignola, Randy Brecker, Wycliffe Gordon, and Grover Washington Jr. Allmark’s early education in classical music paved the way for a flourishing jazz career in the US, where he has toured extensively throughout Europe, South America, Russia, and the United States. His deep connection with saxophonist Dino Govoni has culminated in the creation of this unique Quintet, showcasing their long-standing musical friendship.
This performance will be a true celebration of jazz, featuring the creative and harmonious collaboration between these two masters of the genre. Their Quintet, currently preparing for their first recording, is a reflection of their years of musical exploration and camaraderie.
