4/20: Saxophonist Ricky Ford was featured in a recent Broadway review of “Hell’s Kitchen,” a musical that draws inspiration from the life and career of Alicia Keys. The review was written by writer Chris Jones. Jones praised Ford’s energetic saxophone solos, which went nicely with the show’s story, which was based on Keys’ childhood in Manhattan Plaza, a Hell’s Kitchen hotspot for artists.

Marcelle Gauvin’s album Faces of Love revealed the intimate quality of the songs in honor of International Jazz Day. Fun fact: Whaling City Sound released Faces of Love as their debut album in 1999!
