News- Systems Two Recording Studios Closed
As some of you may know, there’s been an unexpected development at Systems Two. It won’t affect the quality of the finished album, but it will take somewhat longer than expected to be completed.A few weeks ago, Systems Two owners Joe and Nancy Marciano broke the news that after 44 years they were retiring and going out of business. Buyers had been approaching them to sell the studio building in an increasingly gentrified, “hot” area of Brooklyn. Although the recording business was something they loved dearly, Nancy and Joe decided it was the right thing to do at the right time.

However, following the recording sessions, the mixing and mastering of my album was not yet completed when the studio ceased operation. The good news is that Mike Marciano is not retiring, and he will continue with current and new projects.

Systems Two has been one of the most renowned studios for hundreds of jazz and classical artists, and Mike Marciano is recognized as one of the best in the business. With Systems Two closing, he’s arranged to work as an independent engineer at Samurai Studios in Astoria, Queens. He’s also relocated all the equipment from the Systems Two “B” control room to his home on Long Island, creating a replica of the mixing/editing/mastering studio…

REMINDER – Planning to buy a 3 day ticket OR to VOLUNTEER this year, advance price deadline on tickets is July 10, just a few days away. Go to http://falconridgefolk.com/tickets/ for more info and ordering.

Still want to volunteer – Barbara, our Vol Coordinator says we still have open positions. Some crews have closed, but a few still need people. Go to www.falconridgevolunteers.com, there is a sign-up form, a list of crews with openings & what each crew does.

Volunteering is certainly NOT for everyone. All festivals need their paying attendee support for sure. That support pays for the gas in the tank so to speak but the volunteers ARE the gas in the tank that make it go. They are the life blood as well as the beating heart of any fest like FRFF. Any of our volunteers will tell you this inner circle part of the community is a very special place to be, it does mean several hrs work and likely missing some dancing, singing listening so check it out first. And for those of you still planning to sign up, please do it now. It makes it so much easier if we have a full crew earlier rather than later.

That’s it for now, feel free to Email me anytime at FalcRidge@aol.com

You can sign up or UNSIGN UP for this e-newsletter anytime as well by going to http://ten.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/announcements

We look forward to seeing you on the hill this summer! 32 days to GATES OPEN! Thanks, Anne

“Night Journey Rewind with Vocalist Dori Rubbicco” a Review by James Graves

“Night Journey Rewind with Vocalist Dori Rubbicco” a Review by James Graves

PictureEmotional, magical, and unmistakably original. As a singer-songwriter Dori Rubbicco inspired by the likes of Joni Mitchell—which makes perfect sense given her penchant for ambitious musical searching—as well as vocal stylists like Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, Dori understands the power of both style and substance and her performance conveys that power to the audience. Her set list is full of unique interpretations and elegantly imagined covers, revealing an artist able to both compose and interpret with equally successful results.

Rubbicco has worked as a solo singer-songwriter and with groups, including the Miami Jazz Ensemble, the Gerald Wiggins Trio, and the Blues Train Band. Her new CD “STAGE DOOR LIVE!” was recorded at New Bedford’s intimate Zeiterion Theater www.dorirubbicco.com
