Last year, due to rain, Pawtucket Country Club postponed the 8/23 Matthew P McIntyre Memorial Golf Outing and rescheduled it to Monday Oct 18, 2010.
We had 72 golfers attending (pretty good for a first year tournament!) and raised approx. $21,000. Total profit was about $11,000 and out of that we donated $10,000 to Boys Town New England.
Raffle prizes included: Bose Wave CD, foursome at Pawtucket Country Club, taylor made driver, golf shirts, Faxon-Andrade items, $250 liquor basket, $100 liqour basket, 6 cases of beer to name of few. Golfers each received a gift bag filled with hat, towel, tees, balls, necklaces (sterling silver), $15,000 hole in one prize (no one won), cash prizes….closet to the pin, putting contest, longest drive which averaged $150 prize per winner.
BBQ lunch was served on patio and dinner in dining room. Every 3rd hole there was free beer, soda and water.

A GREAT GOLF BENEFIT FOR BOYS TOWN NEW ENGLAND
AND THE MATTHEW MCINTYRE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION
IS NOTHING LESS THAN A STROKE OF GENIUS
PAWTUCKET COUNTRY CLUB HOSTS THE OUTING ON OCTOBER 18, 2010
A glorious benefit happens later this Fall in the name of Matthew McIntyre, a young boy who left this world far too early in 2008, at the age of nine. The first annual Matthew P. McIntyre Golf Outing, will be held on October 18, 2010 at the Pawtucket Country Club in Pawtucket, RI.
Last year, Matthew’s foundation hosted a dinner/dance and raised more than $30,000. Today, that money is being used to build the Matthew McIntyre Sports Complex at Boys Town New England (58 Flanagan Rd. Portsmouth, RI http://www.boystown.org/new-england), a facility which will be ready any day now, and will provide the kids on the boys town campus a chance to play all kinds of sports, like basketball and tennis. The thought would have pleased Matt, an active, sports-loving child.
His life began as a foster child in the state of Rhode Island; he lived in a shelter by the age of 2. The McIntyres, Paul and Denise, met Matt and fell in love. “He came to live with us when he was 3 years old, and we were lucky enough to be able to adopt him at the age of 4,” says Denise, a host of the benefit. “He was probably the most loving, charming child we have ever met. He had a huge heart and always told me that when he grew up, he was going to be a Daddy and adopt 100 children!”
As a product of the foster care system, Matt knew what a loving home could mean to a child in need. Matt came to the McIntyre family from Boys Town New England, a non-profit, non-sectarian organization that provides abused, abandoned and neglected children with a safe, caring & loving environment where they gain the life skills necessary to become productive members of society.
Today, the McIntyres have made it their mission to assist Boys Town New England with their effort and resources, in order to help the organization provide a good and worthwhile home to the children that end up there. “Matthew really was uniquely aware of the needs of children living without families to call their own,” says Denise. “This is why we have decided to help Matthew’s wish of adopting 100 children become a reality.”
You too can help Matt’s vision become a reality by teeing up in Pawtucket on October 18th. The cost for the event is $150, which includes 18 holes, cart, lunch, dinner, and prizes! All profits will benefit Boys Town New England.
